The Pride ERG held a design contest during Pride Month, where we requested designs for patches from the talented people in our private channel. Once all the submissions were received, the ERG community voted on their favorite designs.
This design is called "Nothing Blooms in Vain" by Jeffy Denight
The quote comes from Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, at the end of a documentary about her life, I Am My Own Woman. Mahlsdorf is a transwoman, who grew up in Nazi Germany and then lived in East Berlin. Despite these environments, she built (and rebuilt) queer community spaces all throughout her life. Her words remind me of the beauty of queer resilience.
I chose to have this frame a sapphic violet and a string of pearls: an essential piece of Mahlsdorf's personal style.
