2023 Individual Trips

You’re going places.

  • We love the flexibility and freedom of working remotely, but nothing will ever truly replace the bonding that happens with coworkers IRL.

To ensure our teams don’t lose the magic of meeting in person, each Mercury employee is allowed to take a trip to any Mercury office (SF, Portland or NYC) for one week during the year.

The goal is for Mercury employees to meet folks from other locations and bridge gaps between teams. Visiting a new office where you don’t know many people can be a bit daunting, but if you pair up with folks from your own team to visit at the same time, it becomes really fun!

This page is here to serve as a planning resource for our team’s individual trips throughout the year.

  • What is an individual trip?

An individual trip is a week-long visit to one of our offices that is not tied to a company event, offsite, or other team-planned event. You can choose to go whenever you’d like!

Where can I go for my individual trip?

    SF, Portland, or NYC

How long can I visit for?

Max one work week (Sunday to Saturday)

Do I need a reason to visit?

Nope, whenever you’d like! You do need your manager’s approval before booking, though.

Do I need to go into the office every day?

    Yes, that is the point.

    Can my plus one come?

Your plus one is welcome to stay in your hotel room, but we do not cover costs (airfare, meals, activities) for plus ones on individual trips.

What is covered by Mercury on individual trips?

Travel costs (airfare, Ubers, etc.), hotels/lodging, meals and drinks (within reason).

Can I do any fun activities on my trip?

You are welcome and encouraged to connect with your coworkers to plan a dinner, drinks or fun activity which you can use your Mercury card for. For events or activities, please get prior approval from your manager.

You can reach out to the ops team if you’d like help planning, recommendations, etc.

Mercury will not pay for after-work activities or events unless multiple Mercury coworkers are in attendance.

Can I stay longer than Sunday-Saturday?

Yes, but Mercury will only cover the cost of hotels for Sunday-Saturday. Any additional days will be your responsibility to pay for.

    Step 4

Add your name to the Trip Tracker for the week you are visiting!
